Famous Bilbies

Frank often takes a bilby with him to schools and community events in order to help educate others about the plight of Australia’s wildlife. These bilbies have played a very important role in the conservation of this species.

Dawn Bilby

Frank named Dawn Bilby after our Patron, Dawn Fraser AO. Dawn was the first of Save the Bilby Fund’s bilbies to visit schools and community events.

Lizzie Bilby

Named after Lizzie Goode. Frank travelled with Dawn and Liz to the Northern Territory where the bilbies starred in the movie “Kangaroo Jack”.

Tracy and Susan Bilbies

Named after Tracy Wattz from Save the Bilby Fund and Susan Clay from Dreamworld, both of these bilbies accompanied Frank to Canberra for the official launch of National Bilby Day in 2005.

Frankie (aka Matthew) Bilby

Frankie is the only bilby ever to have been into Tasmania.

Jessica Bilby

Jessica Bilby was born at the Ipswich Nature Centre in late 2009. Frank named her after Jessica Watson and invited Jessica to Ipswich to meet her namesake. Jessica kindly supports Save the Bilby Fund in its work. Jessica Bilby is now part of Dreamworld's captive breeding program.

Lester Bilby

Lester has visited many schools around Australia. His gentle nature has made him a real favourite.

Cadel Bilby

Cadel Bilby was born at Dreamworld and recently released at Currawinya National Park.
