Our Vision

To assist in the prevention of Australian Wildlife extinction

Save the Bilby Fund supports the three main aims of the National Recovery Plan for bilbies:

  • to support research into the biology and ecology of the species to identify the reasons for population and distribution decline
  • to direct management efforts towards addressing threatening processes
  • to re-establish populations, based on the biological knowledge gained through the research.

Our Mission

Save The Bilby Fund will actively support programs of education, research and direct action to secure the long term conservation of bilbies, and of other endangered/threatened Australian animal species.

Our Values

Trust, transparency, proactivity, credibility, honesty, integrity

Strategies and Desired Outcomes

1.

Strategy: Establish and maintain clear and deliberate community awareness campaigns through community engagement and education.

Desired outcome: Improved community understanding of threatened species, their supporting eco- systems and the role they play in maintaining bio-diversity.

2.

Strategy: Establish and maintain government and stakeholder campaigns.

Desired outcome: Influence governments in order to build partnerships and progress effective conservation of threatened species and bio-diversity more broadly.

3.

Strategy: Establish and maintain captive breeding and release to wild programs as part of coordinated recovery programs for particular priority species.

Desired outcome: Well-managed and resourced captive breeding programs, ensuring the genetic integrity and viability of animals that are used to re-establish or support wild populations of threatened species.

4.

Strategy: Participate in and support field conservation and research projects through collaborative involvement and partnerships in National Recovery Programs.

Desired outcome: “Save the Bilby Fund” seen as a credible partner in field conservation and increased conservation outcomes across Australia.
